The God Who Heals Part VII

My, Devotion to Him #14

VERSE PASSAGE: Luke 8:40-48 “Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him. Then a man named Jairus, a synagogue leader, came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come to his house because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying. As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. “Who touched me?” Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.” But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.” Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.” – NIV

I want to start out by stating from what I’ve read from Leviticus 15:19-23 states. I can safely state.

1. She had a serious issue of blood.

2. This issue lasted 12 years non-stop.

3. This issue was not internal bleeding, but an issue of bleeding in which is consistent with a woman’s period.

4. Due to this issue she is considered unclean.

5. Everything she touches is unclean by law.

6. She is unworthy, unclean, and most likely lives a life of solitude due to her issue.

This woman has had a terrible life for 12 years. She cannot go out and start touching stuff, or sit anywhere. Because if she does it will be unclean and anyone who touches what she has touched will be unclean also. So this is serious business.

This woman is so unclean that when she touches something it is unclean to the point in which it is considered defiled. Now when Jesus was on His way to heal a young girl she fought to touch His robe. It has been stated that the crowd almost crushed Jesus. Therefore this crowd was massive! This crowd was so big and jammed packed that Jesus Himself was almost crushed due to the size of this crowd. This woman knowing she was unclean, pushed her way through the crowd. She risked defiling dozens or more. She risked getting trampled on. Why did she risked everything that was in her to touch Jesus? Actually she risked everything to only touch His clothes. She believed that He had so much power, so much healing in Him. That she thought all she had to do was to touch His robe. Amazing!

When she touched His robe she was instantly healed. Jesus stopped and asked who had touched Him. Now, the crowd was so massive in size that the disciples did not understand the question. They said “Jesus look at the crowd, everyone is touching you.” He said, “No! Someone touched me. I know because I felt the power leave me.”

When this woman touched Jesus’ robe healing power left Christ and He felt it. Even though several dozens of people were packed around Him almost crushing Him. She came to Him in humility, in her unworthiness and fell at His feet. She told Him everything. Even in front of the crowd she laid it all out. He responded that her faith has made her whole.

Sometimes we think we need a touch from Jesus to be healed. When this woman believed she only need to touch what He was wearing and would be healed of her issue. She didn’t know Jesus, she knew of Him, but did not know Him. Yet, she believed in what He could do which showed who He was. That she insisted she only need to touch His clothes and instant healing would occur. Wow!

Do not think you need a touch from Jesus. He is so Holy that what He wears is immersed in anointed healing power. He is so Holy that where He walks has healing power. The air He breathes, the items He touches has healing power on it, in it, and around it. Do not think that you cannot be healed because Jesus is not physically here. We need to believe that when we pray for healing, when we stand on the word for healing we will be healed. Because Jesus is healing. Jesus said to ask and you shall receive. Ask for your healing, stand on faith that you are healed, believe you are healed. You shall be made whole.

1. We need to push through the crowd no matter the cost to get to Jesus.

2. We do not need to be touched to be healed. Asking, standing firm, believing is by far enough to receive our healing.

3. Even the most unclean person shall receive healing.

4. There is a hidden message of “boldness” in this story. We need to be bold when seeking our healing. Christ says to come boldly before the throne of God. She is one of the boldest people that you will find in the Bible
