Faith Matters

My, Devotion to Him #70

VERSE PASSAGE: Luke 1:45 “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” – NIV

In life we find that there are many reasons why God’s blessings don’t always come to pass in a person’s life, but the most common cause is simply unbelief on our part. There are no limitations on God’s part. He is willing and able to do anything He has promised. The problem is with us. We are the problem as we have a tendency to have unbelief reside in us.

VERSE PASSAGE: Romans 12:3 “For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.” – NIV

From here we can see that the Lord has given every believer faith.

VERSE PASSAGE: Romans 10:17 “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” – NIV

It was given to us through hearing the Word of God. However, there are many that do not use it, we must choose to exercise it. Our faith is linked to our knowledge of God and the Word.

If we do not understand or know God or the Word we “tend” to have weak faith muscles. This is not including everyone as some have shown high faith levels while still not having knowledge of the Word.

What we think on is how we will be. What we speak is what will be our spoken bond.

VERSE PASSAGE: Matthew 15:11 “What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.” – NIV

VERSE PASSAGE: Romans 7:25 “Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.” – NIV

Watch what you speak as it could defile you. It can containment your character. As follower of Christ we can make our minds be obedient to God’s law. But if we do not spend time with Him and in His Word we can quickly get our minds to serve the law of sin.

The problem is not that we don’t have faith. The problem occurs when we don’t allow our faith to work because we don’t keep our minds stayed on God’s Word. Then our faith is choked out by the cares of this life.

Keeping our minds stayed on God’s Word will release our faith and thereby release the power of God in our lives. Certainly Mary must have been a person who put God’s Word first in her life.

VERSE PASSAGE: Psalm 119:11 “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” – NIV

VERSE PASSAGE: Colossians 3:2 “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” – NIV

VERSE PASSAGE: Colossians 3:10 “and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.” – NIV

Mary saw a performance of what she believed. We receive what we believe, not what we desire or even need. Today believe the Word that the Lord has spoken.

Be blessed my brothers and sisters in Christ.
