6 Ways The Bible Helps Us

My, Devotion to Him #76



I want to look over several verses and show how the Bible helps us in several different ways. 

1. The Scripture Gives Us Spiritual Insight

VERSE PASSAGE: Proverbs 2:6 “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” – NIV

VERSE PASSAGE: Psalm 119:34 “Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart.” – NIV

VERSE PASSAGE: Luke 24:45 “Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures” – NIV

2. The Scripture Guides Us

VERSE PASSAGE: Psalm 119:105 “Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures” – NIV

VERSE PASSAGE: Psalm 31:3 “Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me.” – NIV


VERSE PASSAGE: Psalm 86:11 “Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.” – NIV

VERSE PASSAGE: Psalm 43:3 “Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.” – NIV

3. The Scripture Produces Faith In Us

VERSE PASSAGE: Romans 10:17 “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” – NIV

VERSE PASSAGE: 2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we live by faith, not by sight.” – NIV

VERSE PASSAGE: 2 Corinthians 4:18 “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” – NIV

VERSE PASSAGE: Romans 1:17 “For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” – NIV

4. The Scripture Helps Us Face Temptation 

VERSE PASSAGE: Luke 22:40 “On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” – NIV 

VERSE PASSAGE: Matthew 6:13 “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’” – NIV 

VERSE PASSAGE: 1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” – NIV

VERSE PASSAGE: James 4:7 “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” – NIV

VERSE PASSAGE: Hebrews 2:18 “Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.” – NIV

5. The Scripture Teaches Us Wisdom & Equip’s Us For Life

VERSE PASSAGE: 2 Timothy 3:14-17 “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” – NIV

VERSE PASSAGE: 1 Peter 2:1-3 “Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.” – NIV

VERSE PASSAGE: Matthew 4:4 “Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” – NIV

VERSE PASSAGE: 1 Timothy 4:6 “If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed.” – NIV

VERSE PASSAGE: Jeremiah 15:16 “When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, Lord God Almighty.” – NIV
