Conformed

My, Devotion to Him #87

VERSE PASSAGE: Romans 8:28-29 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.” – NIV

Here’s one verse I’ve heard said a lot, especially the first part of the verse. But when we look at the entire verse, along with verse 29 we get the bigger picture of what God is doing in the lives of believers when we encounter struggles.

We discover in this passage that “God causes all things to work together for the good” in order to make us more like Christ. When we truly believe that God not only works in, but causes events in our lives to conform us to Christ’s character, we will no longer need to doubt, worry, stress, or become anxious when hard times hit us. We can instead be rest assured that God is at work in every situation in our lives to make us more like His Son and that nothing takes Him by surprise.

God has a plan and we must believe that to the fullest. We are to be Christ like. We are to have the appearance of Christ, the character of Him. He has been through the temptations, and the trials of mankind. He has shown how to respond to these situations and we must follow in His footsteps. God works for the good of those who love Him.

It’s amazing how these two passages together are a great combination and how “God working for the good of those who love Him” and “conformed to His Son’s image” are used within verse 28 and 29.

Two definitions of Conform are:

1. To be or become similar in form, nature, or character.

2. To be in harmony of accord.

Loving God is in direct connection to conforming to the image of Christ. Being Christ like.

Be blessed my brothers and sisters in Christ.
