My, Devotion to Him #97
God is not only pleased with us when we commit to serving Him with excellence but He also rewards us abundantly for it. Let’s take a look at some Scripture that can help us commit to excellence in Christ.
1. Excellence Will Put Us Before Kings
VERSE PASSAGE: Proverbs 22:29 “Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank.” – NIV
When we perform with excellence we will serve before kings. When we commit to doing our, handling ourselves, and acting with excellence we will be out before kings. We are also now serving the one true king. We are before the King of Kings. He deserves our excellence in all that we do.
God does His work in excellence. When He created the world the end result was it was “Very Good” Genesis 1:31. God sets an example for all of us in the creation story.
2. God Equips People With Certain Skills According To His Purpose For Us
VERSE PASSAGE: In Romans 12:4-8 “For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” – NIV
Paul tells us that each of us are given gifts for serving God. We need to find a balance between our desires and what we are equipped to do to effectively serve God. Some people have a heart and a desire to do something. But they may actually be equipped to serve God effectively in a different position. It is critical that we recognize what God has equipped us to do for His Kingdom. We may be able to do several things in the Kingdom but God has given us certain skills. He has given us the ability to do certain things with the kind of excellence He seeks.
3. Doing What Your Told Being Committed
VERSE PASSAGE: Exodus 40:16 “Moses did everything just as the Lord commanded him.” – NIV
Moses performed his work as the Lord commanded him. Likewise, many people full called by God to do something but then they do that very thing that God has told them to do in their own way. When God tells us to do something we need to do it. We need to rely on Him. Some people think they can hear God voice and then do the Ministry in whatever they please. Wrong! God has ways that we should conduct ourselves, conduct the church, handle issues. Sometimes we try taking short cuts in the Ministry. But God may be wanting us to take the long way. We must adhere to His voice and know what He is telling us to do. We must do what God tells us to do in the way that God told us to do it.
4. Because of Moses Obedience. The Management Team Of The Builders Emulated Moses Example
See: Exodus 35:30-35, Exodus 36:1, Exodus 39.
Obedience and how someone handles a situation can be contagious.
5. Work As If Jesus Is Evaluating Our Effort
VERSE PASSAGE: Ephesians 6:5-8 “Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.” – NIV
Paul tells the servants and the masters to work as if they are serving God Himself.
6. God promises reward for excellence
VERSE PASSAGE: Colossians 3:23-25 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.” – NIV
Paul promises a reward for those that serve God in excellence.
God is so mighty and wonderful. What better way to prove that we are committed to Him then to serve Him with excellence. Does He not deserve excellence? He made us and the whole world. I can think of nothing better than to give Him our very best.
Be blessed my brothers and sisters in Christ.
