Standing on the Promises

My, Devotion to Him #148

In difficult times like these it becomes apparent that you can’t place your trust in the things that we were able to count on in the past such as the government, schools, economy, relationships, and the list goes on and on. Sometimes each of these get better and worse as time passes. It goes up and down constantly but there is One who never changes. That’s God! Because God doesn’t change. His Word doesn’t change. Which means His promises don’t change! It is comforting to know that in the world that we live in today there is one thing we can place our trust on which never wavers or lets us down. It is the promises that God has made to us. If your someone who has had a promise broken that’s okay. Because you can take comfort and place your trust in these promises that our Heavenly Father has said. The following is a discussion of some of those wonderful promises:

1. God promises Salvation.

In John 3:16-17 Jesus tells Nicodemus and us that He came into the world for our salvation. In John 14:6 He tells His disciples that He is the way.

Salvation is the deliverance of something. Salvation in most of it’s forms biblically has various conditions attached to it. If a person does not fulfill these conditions, they will not be delivered (or saved) from the negative consequences that follow.

So even though God does promise salvation. There is also conditions to being saved that must be met in order to obtain the promise.

2. God promises to be our rock and our fortress.

In Psalm 31:1-5 the psalmist tells us the God is his rock and his fortress and his deliverer.

3. God promises to be with us in times of trouble.

In Psalm 46:1-2 the psalmist tells us that God is our refuge and strength in times of trouble.

4. God promises to hear our prayers.

In Jeremiah 29:12 and Jeremiah 33:3 the Lord told Jeremiah that if he calls unto Him, He will hear his prayers.

5. God promises heart desires if we commit to Him and believe.

In Psalm 37:4-5 David tells us that if we commit our ways to the Lord, He will grant us the desires of our heart.

6. God promises blessings for obedience.

In Deuteronomy 5:29 God told Moses that if the children of Israel kept His commandments He would bless them and their children. In Psalm 119:2 the psalmist tells us that those that keep His testimonies will be blessed.

7. God promises to direct our paths.

Solomon tells us in Proverbs 3:6 that if we acknowledge Christ in our daily walk He shall direct our paths. In Psalm 48:12-14 the psalmist tells us that God is with us even unto death.

8. God promises to meet our needs.

In Philippians 4:19 Paul tells us that God will supply all of our needs according to His riches and glory.

God bless!
