My, Devotion to Him #183
Verse Passage: 1 John 4:12 “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” – NIV
Thank you for immersing yourself in this series. You know God did something remarkable for us in Jesus. Through faith in Him, God lives in us. It’s an incredible treasure that we don’t deserve. It’s the greatest example of sacrificial love. God has a huge heart for us.
You know sometimes in life its hard to keep the flame of love lit. And as Christians it can be even more difficult because of this life. We need to keep reflecting on God and His love. Keep celebrating God’s love. As we spend time with Him and reflect on Him we continue to keep this love flame lit. But we now also need to let His love motivate us to love others.
Today’s passage reminds us that love is not merely a feeling. Love is an action. Love takes the initiative and meets real needs. God did just that. There is no way that we ourselves could fix our sin that separates us from God, so He took the initiative to meet a real need. He sent Jesus to die for us. So many people want to downplay love. Many people don’t accept the power of love. Love is very powerful; it’s so powerful that God Himself gave up His Son in hopes that we might be saved. It was loved that moved Him. It was love that compelled Him.
Verse Passage: 1 John 4:7-11 “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” – NIV
Now after reading this passage and knowing what it says. Can you for sure say that you are a person that loves? If God was willing to give up His one and only Son for you because of love. Can you say that you show that kind of love.
If you are a person of love. How do you love? What do you do? Do you do a service project, a random act of kindness, ect?
And if you are not a person of love. What will be the steps you will take next to become the love of Christ.
I pray this series has touched you as it has me.
God bless!
