He’s Here

My, Devotion to Him #214

The book of Joshua begins with God telling Joshua that Moses is dead, which meant Joshua was now the leader of the entire nation of Israel. Which for probably anyone would be a very daunting situation.

Imagine the responsibility he would have felt! I know how such a “promotion” would have made me feel: intimidated, overwhelmed, afraid, stressed, and probably pressured just to name a few! And probably Joshua’s anxiety increased when God told him to get the people ready to cross the Jordan River into the Promised Land. This is in Joshua 1:2.

Perhaps he had a sudden and terrifying vision of how terribly wrong the people had treated Moses when he led them. And maybe a worry of what might happen to him as well.

Praise and gratitude belongs to God, because He didn’t leave Joshua drowning in his feelings of self-doubt and worry. Immediately after telling Joshua to get the people ready to go, God told him about all the wonderful things He was going to give the Israelites. This is in Joshua 1:3,4.

God, goes even further and He says the beautiful words of today’s verse.

Verse Passage: Joshua 1:5 “No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.” – NIV

As God was with Joshua, we can be strengthen and encouraged that He is also with us. The next time your feelings flare up and you feel anxious, lonely, overwhelmed, stressed, or pressured, remind yourself that God is still the God of Moses, the God of Joshua. He has promised to never leave.

He is the God that is always the same yesterday, today, and forever. Our feelings have no power. Our emotions have no authority over us. Because God has already declared that He is with us. He has already proclaimed that He will never leave us. He is the God that always keeps His promises.

So today stand, be encourage and uplifted because your God is here today with you. Side by side He stands leading you, guiding you, protecting you, pouring out blessing, and helping you every step of the way in this life.

God bless!
