None Like Him

My, Devotion to Him #292

No matter how far back in time we go, there is God. No matter how far into the future we look, God is there as well.

Speaking about God, Moses said, “From everlasting to everlasting, You are God.” (Psalm 90:2b)

Before time began there was God, and before anything was created, there was God. The Biblical record tells us in Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning God.” But not only was God before everything, and thus created everything, He is also after everything as well. In other words, when everything ends, there God will be. The reason is because God is outside time, space, and matter.

God has no past, and He has no future, He is by definition both past and future (as He was before everything and will be after everything) not to mention His current presence in the present. This is brought out in the song of praise that has been and will continue to be sung for all eternity by the four living creatures before God’s throne in heaven.

This song is revealed to us in Revelation 4:8. They sing continually, “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty. Who was and is and is to come!”

God dwells in all eternity, and eternity dwells in God. He has already lived in all of our yesterdays, and in all of our tomorrows before us. One of the most amazing things about this, that does require some faith, is that He has lived before time began and even after time ends all at the same time.

This is why He can reveal the end from the beginning.

Through the prophet Isaiah, chapter 46:9-10, the Lord said, “For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me. Declaring the end from the beginning. And from ancient times things that are not yet done.”

And so the Lord God is as He describes Himself, and is described in the Scriptures: the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

Jesus said, “I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” (Revelation 22:13)

Time is irrelevant to God, because God is outside of it.

God knows all things. He knows where we’ve been and He knows where we are going, and as such, He knows what is best for our present. Therefore, we can trust God with whatever time we have left.

May the God of hope fill you today with joy and peace. I pray that through the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in God’s hope and calling for your life, because He already knows what you need and what is best.

God bless.
