Is Heaven Worth It?

My, Devotion to Him #317

Many of us are ready for Heaven; I know I am. Why not? A place where there is no pain, suffering, sadness, loss of life. Where everything is perfect all the time, even the people around you. Lord knows how we long to be around perfect people since we consider our own selves perfect, and it would just be easier to go along in life being around others who were perfect like us (If you did not get the intended sarcasm, then consider this me telling you it was)

Heaven is like no other place on Earth or even in the universe. It is the only place where perfection exists in everything. There are tons of books, the Bible, tv shows, and movies that talk about Heaven, but there is still so much more not talked about that we simply just don’t know about. A place unexplored and recounted for the world to know about. An area more vast and filled with more beauty and splendor than everyone could ever fantasize. The Bible gives us the most significant amount of authentic detail, but in the end, it will not compare to what we will see and experience.

Instead of getting our assumptions from tv shows like “the good place” you can instead dive into the Bible and explore its many passages concerning our forever home, which we are going to do a little of that in this message.

Sadly to date, only two people have been able to go to Heaven without first dying (Jesus not included). Jesus is different, considering He had died, rose again, and then ascended into Heaven. That would’ve been the most fantastic thing to watch, wouldn’t you say? Watching as Christ stood before you and ascended into Heaven.

Anyways, at this moment, we have to die. Bummer, I know. However, we do know that it’s not the end for anyone. Everyone who passes will either spend eternity in Heaven or hell. No joke. It is not an option. The eternity of our soul is a reality that is not subjected to our own belief or opinion but the absolute degree of God. The only option you have in the matter is where you go. Those who choose to believe in Christ, belief in His birth, sinless life, death, and resurrection shall be saved. Those who chose to believe in the power and authority of God. Those who decided to admit they were a sinner and needed one who was far greater than them. Those who choose to surrender their life and let Jesus Christ reign supreme in their life will be entering into the gates of Heaven. While those who reject everything and anything of God, even those who made no choice have actually inadvertently made the decision against Him, will be hell bound. There are arguments for this on certain things, but we are not getting into that today. The fact we are stating today is we need CHRIST!

At death, our spirit leaves our human body. The body returns to the earth from which we came, and our spirit goes to the Lord (for the believers). Both places, though, are conscious existences. It’s not like we die and then go to Heaven and don’t know we are in Heaven. No! We will always be fully aware of which location we are in. Either we will be tormented and burning forever or rest in paradise with our Savior.

Verse Passage: 2 Corinthians 5:8 “Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him” – ESV.

The short answer to this is we will worship.

How could we not? Coming into Heaven and seeing paradise, knowing it is ours forever. Knowing we will have every single day to spend with the Father, seeing Christ, and finally being able to hug Him to thank Him for all that He has done. The first thing we’d do is worship the One true God!

We will serve the Lord. He is not done. We aren’t packing it up and calling it good. There is work to be done. However, in perfection, we find work to be done easily, without problems, difficulty, stress, pain, arguing, or backstabbing.

Count the cost! The path is narrow for a reason. The way is challenging; you may find trouble and lose friends and family. But make a choice. Is Jesus worth it? Is Heaven worth it? Has God not done enough for you to surrender every breath you have to Him? The One who made you. The One who knows you better than yourself. The One who sent His own son to die on the cross that you might be saved.

Do not worry about the activities of Heaven, and if there is enough to do, indeed, the One who made the universe and all its diversity will have plenty for you. You will not tire or become bored as those are earthly feelings! Instead, a new body made perfect in a place of glory to reside forever.

God bless,
