VERSE PASSAGE: Isaiah 9:2 “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.” – NIV
Jesus’ life was a bright beacon of hope, mercy, love, forgiveness, and salvation. His light would dispel the darkest of roads and be a light for people’s spiritual journey. He was a dawning of great light. Some were fascinated by Him. Some followed with simple intrigue. Others followed so close to the light that it became a relationship and lifestyle. They didn’t desire darkness now, they had walked in the light. Even for some who are afar the light still has a message for them “come and see”.
People are drawn to light. It’s not rocket science to understand that concept. In today’s society movie theaters shoot beams of light on the outside of their buildings to attract people, Las Vegas is lit up with light, New York and dozens of other cities have hundreds of lights to attract people to certain things. Jesus was a pure light that people were drawn to with interest. Just as He shined His light you need to shine yours because it is actually the light of Christ that is shining through us and will draw the people. As we shine our light as Jesus we will start to dispel the darkness that has engulfed the lives’ of many people. We will shine that beacon of hope as we serve and represent Christ. The beacon of light that we emit is the message “come and see” this is the message that brings them in.
I find that when people are lost they look at lights pointing to something. When your driving on the road at night you watch for the signs to tell you which exit is next, what’s at this or that stop, ect. But you have to have you lights working properly to be able to see. When your in a dark room you look for any type of light, or get your phone light out in order to see.
We use lights for so many things. Jesus is an attraction because He is the brightest light in our darkest night. He’s the light of love, the light of happiness, the light of comfort, the light of hope, the light of peace, the light of salvation. You see Jesus is the LIGHT for all that is good.
This is what brings people in. This is what we should be talking about. This is what we should be proclaiming!
God bless!
