It seems like fighting and selfishness comes naturally to siblings. It is also something that parents seems to understand as they’ve most likely been through their own little spats with their own siblings. It is something that is understood but constantly reshaped. Admonishments of “stop that fighting” and “be nice to each other” among other things are said. And when spouses get into disagreements and fight it can stem from those same basic immature selfishness behavior over petty things.
On a grander scale Nations take this same pattern. Borders are threatened or dictators impose their will on the people. The people may rise up and take action.
However a baby would be born and He alone would take the true government upon His shoulders. He would possess great wisdom to counsel and carry out a royal program of purity that would cause the world to marvel. His might would command great respect. He will endure forever to provide and protect just like a father does. His rule would bring about complete wholeness to individuals and to society. His reign is forever and forever unending. He cloaks Himself in grace and pushes an agenda for truth with His weapon of love. This is His way of war. Will we follow suit? Will we follow this way of war? Will we follow our General if this is His plan? This is His plan and this is exactly what He did and what He constantly does.
VERSE PASSAGE: Isaiah 9:6 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” – NIV
It is wise for us to not only worship the manger baby but also the carpenter man of Calvary.
