Often it is difficult to find peace in our life when we are in the midst of a storm. Many times I have heard people say, “Why do bad things have to happen to good people”? While we can not understand the reason why, we can know that we are never tempted beyond our capacity to endure, that God has a purpose in our life, and we are loved by a God who loves us so much that He offered the life of His own Son for us.
1. You are governed by His providence.
Matthew 14:22-32 Jesus would not allow the ship to sink carrying His disciples. He will no less allow you to sink into despair if you call upon Him.
2. God will never put you through something you cannot endure.
Paul assures us that no temptation ever befalls us that we are not able to bear.
Verse Passage: 1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” – NIV
3. Through trials He is transforming you to the image of His Son.
Paul tells us that we are predestined to be transformed into the image of God.
Verse Passage: Romans 8:29 “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.” – NIV
4. The Dynamic Duo is in our corner.
Paul tells us that the Holy Spirit prays for us. Peter tells us also that Jesus himself intercedes with God on our behalf.
Verse Passage: Romans 8:26-27 “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” – NIV
Verse Passage: Hebrews 7:24-25 “but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.” – NIV
5. Have Patience in the Lord.
The prophet Isaiah tells us to be patient and wait upon the Lord.
Verse Passage: Isaiah 30:18 “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” – NIV
6. He is with us during this time.
In John 6:16-21 Jesus walked on water to come to the aide of His disciples. He’ll be walking with us when the sea of life gets rough.
7. God has a purpose for our lives and nothing separates us from God’s Love.
Paul tells us this in Romans.
Verse Passage: Romans 8:38-39 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – NIV
8. Finally, God measures us by how we respond.
In Matthew 25:14-30 Jesus teaches us that the way in which we use our talents will be the measure of how successful we are in life. This is especially true in times of trouble.
God bless!
