Verse Passage: Psalms 95:6-7 “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if only you would hear his voice.” – NIV
Have you ever just stopped what you were doing and wondered what you were actually doing? Wondering who you really were? Wondering what this was all about or for?
You see before Christ we were just a sinner living a blind life. Distracted by lies and trivial things. Soaked up in small daily things. We were a people wandering around not knowing who we were or where we were going.
One of the great things that happens after salvation is coming to know the truth. This passage tells us we are God’s people. We are in His pasture.
This word pasture is such a peaceful word to use because it’s used in combination with flock. These two words put together gives us an image that should bring peace and comfort. Sheep graze in a pasture, they eat small amounts. Sheep are not in a hurry, they take their time because there is plenty of food and nothing to worry about.
When we are His people, we are like sheep in a pasture. There is nothing to be worried about. There are blessings, more than enough to meet our needs. We don’t have to be in a hurry we can take our time in His field.
You see this was the identity given. Once we were a people of worry and hurry. Now we are a people that can graze along and take time because now we have peace and joy and we are in His pasture.
This passage is filled up with encouragement. It is also a passage that shines light on your true identity.
Take some time today and graze in His presence. Graze in worship of Him. There is plenty of time and more than enough food for you. Don’t rush your appearance. Stop and linger in His pasture in which the presence presides.
God bless you all!
