Into Fullness

My, Devotion to Him #211

Verse Passage: Acts 1:4-5 “On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” – NIV

Have you ever felt like the world is just moving so fast? And every year it seems it’s getting faster and faster (I’m not talking about the speed of the earth. Just so we are on the same page). It seems responsibilities, relationships, deadlines, and many other things are just on a race track. It feels like yesterday we had just moved to Tennessee when actually we’ve been here almost three years already. It seems like my baby was just born and now she’s almost two! Everything is moving so fast. This world seems to be moving so fast and sometimes might feel like it requires much more of us than we actually have to give. Running on empty may seem like it’s a normal thing to you, but it’s not what God intended for you or any of us. After Jesus died for our sins, He appeared to His disciples to teach in which during this time He gave instruction for spreading the Gospel. Before He released them to disciple and minister, He reminded them of His Spirit. He reminded them that the Holy Spirit was to come and fill them with heavenly power.

Jesus knew this was the only way that the Gospel could be spread. Because running on empty while trying to push the agenda of God would end terribly. Jesus was publicly crucified and His disciples were charged with spreading the very same message that Jesus died for. They were to do this in the same environment that had the same hostility towards such a powerful and freeing message. There was only one option. It was to operate in the fullness of God. It was to allow God’s love and anointing to overflow, go forth, pour out, rain down, and pave the way for them to move forward.

You may not be facing intense persecution or fear for your life right now, but you have been tasked with the same mission. As a believer in Christ, we are most certainly responsible for spreading God’s love and grace to a sick and suffering world. We are tasked with preaching the Word and pushing forth His agenda.

Fulfilling this calling is a mission that at times seems too daunting to accomplish in our own power and will. Because we will try and attempt to fulfill this while running on empty. This is too important. It requires fullness, not of yourself, but of the Spirit of God.

This world is moving fast, things always changing around us. And if we are not careful we will be sucked into a fast pace race track that never ends till your dead. This life is too important with an ever important mission. We can not give in to such movements that this world operates in.

Operate in the Spirit and let the Spirit pave the way forward.

God bless.
