VERSE PASSAGE: Mark 4:21-23 “He said to them, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.” – NIV
Jesus in this passage is asking a question in regards to a lamp. If we carried and lit an old kerosene lamp or a candle with a stand would we put it under our beds or even under a bowl? Or would we put it on a stand out in the open in order to shine light and show us whatever is hidden by the darks cloak of night.
Jesus proceeds with another statement; if anyone has ears let them hear.
VERSE PASSAGE: Mark 4:24-25 “Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.” – NIV
Jesus is wanting us to carefully consider what we hear. Because it is in hearing that there is teachableness, spiritual receptivity, warnings, and spiritual abundance.
We have a responsibility to let our light shine. We all will be accountable in which amount our light shined. The Word says, “with the measure you use, it will be measured to you” We are responsible as Christians for what we hear and for what we do with what we have heard. What we heard should be applied to our life and dispensed to others around us to help the lives that are around us.
Let’s look at Christian responsibility again.
- Hear the Word of God.
- Consider carefully what you have heard.
- Apply it to your life.
- Release it to others to help them with their life.
In this pattern I believe is how we show the light of Christ.
Be blessed my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus.
