VERSE PASSAGE: Micah 5:2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” – NIV
In March 2017 Mariah and I found out that she was pregnant. Wow! The anticipation of a baby was surely overwhelming. We experienced excitement at the grand news of us becoming parents, concern over the new responsibility of caring for a child, and joy in having something that was created from love. What a change a small bundle of joy would bring to our lives. The expectation of change only intensified the closer we got to the delivery date. It’s amazing how your mind starts to refocus its attention from things that were once deemed important out of self desire to now focusing on caring and meeting the needs of a baby.
This passage states that out of Bethlehem which was a small insignificant part of the kingdom would now bring forth one who would be king over Israel.
That’s just like God you know. On more than one occasion He has used the ordinary, seemingly small thing that is considered by many insignificant, to bring about great and miraculous things. To us small things are insignificant. This robs us of realizing the miracles of God in our lives. The Messiah, the great Shepherd King, came in a small little package. In that small package was a baby and would one day impact the world.
Many people believe that it is only God if it comes instantly and with great impact. However time and time again we see that God has a way of using the small insignificant things to bring about great change with massive impact.
Today pay attention to the small things in your life. Miracles are all around you. Just as a parent would focus all their attention on a small little baby. We need to focus are attention on the small things. God is there.
Be blessed my brothers and sisters in Christ
