In Romans 12:1-2, Paul sums up pretty much the way we are to live as Christians. Paul urges us not to compromise our faith but to live our lives as a pleasing and holy sacrifice to the Lord Our Savior. Following are words to live by and how we can walk according to God’s Holy word.
Gods Words tell us:
A. Don’t compromise.
Verse Passage: Romans 12:1-2 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will.” – NIV
Paul tells us in Romans to live our lives as a holy sacrifice pleasing to God.
B. Don’t allow division within the ranks.
Verse Passage: 1 Corinthians 1:10 “I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.” – NIV
Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians not to allow divisions to occur among us.
C. Walk in a manor according to your calling.
Verse Passage: Ephesians 4:1-3 “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” – NIV
Paul tells us in Ephesians to live with meekness and humility not with arrogance and pride but with long-suffering and love for one another.
D. Abstain from Fleshly Lusts.
Verse Passage: 1 Peter 2:1 “Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.” – NIV
Verse Passage: 1 Peter 1:14 “As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.” – NIV
Peter tells us in 1 Peter to abstain from fleshly lusts that rage war against our souls and don’t be conformed to this world.
E. Walk as Children of Light.
Verse Passage: Ephesians 5:8-11 “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness) and truth and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” – NIV
Paul encourages us in Ephesians to let your life prove what is acceptable to the Lord.
How to walk according to God’s Word:
A. Do not use violence or oppression.
Verse Passage: Ezekiel 45:9 ““This is what the Sovereign Lord says: You have gone far enough, princes of Israel! Give up your violence and oppression and do what is just and right. Stop dispossessing my people, declares the Sovereign Lord.” – NIV
B. Make offerings to God.
Verse Passage: 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” – NIV
Paul encourages us in 2 Corinthians to give to God in bounty.
C. Remember the Sabbath Day.

D. Have compassion for people.
Verse Passage: Matthew 22:39 “And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” – NIV
Jesus tells us in Matthew to Love thy neighbor as you love thyself.
E. Have a passion for Christ.
Verse Passage: Matthew 22:37 “Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” – NIV
Jesus commands us in Matthew to love thy God with all thy mind, all thy soul and all thy heart.
F. Find Ways to Serve the Lord.
Verse Passage: Joshua 24:15 “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” – NIV
All of these are only great words to live by but also ways to live by.
God bless!
