My, Devotion to Him #261
Have you ever tried coloring and you just didn’t get the right colors and the picture did not come out how you thought it would? Maybe you’ve tried your hand at cook a time or two and a dish just wasn’t what you expected. Maybe it felt like it was lacking another spice or herb. Maybe the flavor just wasn’t potent enough or it was to potent. Or maybe you even seen a cool DIY project that required concrete which requires cement, sand, and water. But if you don’t get the mix right, the cement will never become what it was intended to be: concrete.
Our bodies need to have a certain mix. If we don’t get that correct mix then our body won’t actually be working the way it was suppose to. All of this connects to one simple statement “Mixing is important. When done it can be good or bad”
The same can be said about our spirit man. The only food that it feeds on is spiritual food. Do you know a person who will only eat a certain type of food: only chicken, only organic, only this or that. Well that’s your spirit man. He will only eat spiritual food. And to top it off he only prefers Godly spiritual food. The worst thing for us to do is not feed our spirits because it starts to starve. The spirit starts to get dry, thirsty, hungry, and weak.
As we feed our spirit man the correct food, one of the best things we should do after eating (reading the word, prayer, etc) is to exercise to promote muscle growth. This is called faith. Faith is taken what you have read about or heard and acting upon it with belief. If we don’t act on what we have heard from God then it doesn’t help us out at all.
“the message they heard did not benefit them, because it was not mixed with faith by those who heard it.”
In order for us to get results from God’s promises then we must have the correct mix.
Why do you sit on a seat? I mean you don’t know that it will hold you. You have only seen people sit in it and it held them, and you probably have heard that it was built for people to sit on, maybe you’ve even read that it was made for people to sit on. But if you do not actually sit in the chair then you are not producing the faith (belief) that what you have either seen, heard or read is true and act on it.
You may say that you believe but if you never action on that belief then it is obvious that the faith may not actually be there.
So what does it mean for us to act in faith?
Agree with His Word. Don’t allow contradicting information make you question the Word. Don’t say anything that would contradict the Word. Once that happens you are put at odds with the very thing you say you agree with.
Wait patiently. We have to allow God to fulfill His Word on His own time frame. It’s not about us but about Him.
“Faith is the substance of things hoped for”
Our faith must be based on something that has substance. You can rest assure that God’s Word has been tried over and over, proven time and time again, and continues to be unfailing. So mix it up well and add in your faith. You will see you’ve got the right mix!
God bless.
