My, Devotion to Him #267
Turning on the tv or looking at online news can get about anyone discouraged, scared, depressed, and uncertain.
It is so easy every single minute of the day to worry whether we are safe, if our kids are going to be okay, what the world is coming to. It is these fears and worries that can make us suspicious of people we don’t know. Every day we run the risk of getting scammed, our identities being stolen, our lives ruined. We run the risk of being stalked, and many other things. Some times we might get a little tight and paranoid. Yes we need to be cautious but we also must be cautious to not let our cautions be a substitute for our faith and trust in God.
We cannot risk letting fear, worry, and caution take front seat while we class down in the back. And let the world drive us.
If we do this we are doing some very bad things.
- We make God smaller than He actually is.
- We box God in and don’t allow Him to work in our lives the way we should.
- We steal from ourselves from seeing and experiencing His might, power, love, peace, passion, glory, presence, and every other amazing thing He offers us.
- We disrespect Him by putting things above Him (even if we are not worshipping them)
Yes I am completely aware that it is not always easy to see God through everything that goes on. And even harder to turn to Him during such times. But God is there, here, and everywhere.
He is a loving Father who does not desert His children. So we can’t be afraid to stand firm. Your Father is here for you, and if we can’t see or feel Him then maybe it’s actually us…
Maybe it is us that needs to do some work. Maybe we should actually take steps to get closer to Him. My daughter knows that I am in the house, she can hear me in the house, but when she sees me by coming to me there is always a smile and her body language changes, because she has seen her Father. It is different than when she hears me, or knows that I am around. When she is actually close enough to see me, she changes. It is different being in the presence.
So in times like this when we are getting those feelings of worry, fear, or whatever it is and we don’t feel like we are seeing, hearing, or feeling God in our life we need to stop, and we should take some time to go find our Father. Hearing Him or knowing He is around is not simply enough and should never be for us. We need to actually be close enough to see Him.
Let’s get back to His presence.
God bless.
