My, Devotion to Him #283
To build a structure, you need a foundation. It is in the foundation that everything else stands on. But what are the foundations of peace?
Here are two parts to that essential foundation.
Verse Passage: Romans 4:25 “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” – NIV
Christ died as a result of our sin. Not His. He took upon Himself the sins of humanity, descended into hell to bring about its defeat along with death and the grave.
That was symbolic as Christ dying is about our death. His burial was about our own. His resurrection is the crowning moment. As Jesus was resurrected, He destroyed the power that death and the grave had on us. The symbolism of this would not end there because it would become the fact that in our death and burial, we would not end there but instead have eternal life.
This passage tells us that Jesus “was raised for our justification.” How does that relate to peace in my life right now? It relates because it means that in Christ, we are restored to a right relationship with God. Nothing can give us peace in the middle of a trial better than knowing that we are friends of God, loved by God, and saved by His greatness.
The second foundation of our peace is that Jesus is reigning in Heaven.
Verse Passage: Acts 7:49 “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house will you build for me? says the Lord. Or where will my resting place be?” – NIV
This passage tells us that Heaven is God’s throne, and the earth is His footstool. That reveals the magnificence of God. How truly great He is. There is also a comparison here. There is no worry too big for God on earth because the earth is His footstool. It’s under His feet. All problems, worries, and stresses we have are under God. Take pleasure in that.
Verse Passage: Hebrews 7:25 “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.” – NIV
Take great comfort in this passage and know that He lives to intercede for you. The peace for us is that Christ, our Lord, now reigns in Heaven. He lives to pray for His children, whom He dearly loves. Yes, believer, you can have peace, knowing these things.
I encourage you to enjoy this peace. Talk about it with others. Show it in the way you live. Peace is given to us by our Savior. It is a present gift from Him to us. When we have peace, we honor God.
God bless.
