My, Devotion to Him #167
Sometimes we have our own understanding of right and wrong, our own system of values and judgments we consider true. But, because of our limited wisdom we miss the mark. We believe things that aren’t really true.
Jesus spent a lot of time teaching people the truth about God. He taught all kinds of audiences like the massive 5,000 plus crowd the Bible talks about down to small groups of people like Him and His disciples. Jesus went even further than that and got on a personal level. Jesus would even teach on a one on one basis to help individuals discover and understand truth.
As a teacher, Jesus wasn’t interested in just imparting information; rather, He taught to change lives. One of the major themes of Jesus’ life was service. Jesus said, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” – Mark 10:45
What needs do you think Jesus and you would see if you walked through your city, neighborhood, or even in your home? When Jesus called His disciples away from the fishing boat, He said He would make them fishers of men, He used their profession, something they already knew how to do and connected it with evangelism.
Growing to be like Jesus consist of the following:
- Teach God’s truth
- Serve and look for needs
- Witness. Not only sharing the gospel but let your life be a witness as well.
