There Was Jesus

My, Devotion to Him #271

Verse Passage: Psalm 139: 1-6 You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completel y. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.” – NIV

I was not raised in a Christian home. When I met my current husband in 1998 that is when I was introduced to Jesus. But it was not until 2001 that I gave my life to Jesus. In my walk since I have been amazed with Him. He absolutely blows my mind even after 20 years of walking with Him. The bible says that he is closer than a brother Ps 18:24. It’s hard for some people to understand and even for many Christians. With Christians it’s because they haven’t opened up to the idea that Jesus could be so personal with us. A lot of times people because Jesus is deity, they think that he’s untouchable. But the amazing thing is just the opposite. I guess it comes down to what you believe.

For me, I believe the bible to be the Word of God from Genesis to Revelations. I take God at his word. You can’t believe one part and not another. The bible is the living, breathing word of God given to us so that through it we can know who He is. I’m so underserving of what Jesus did on the cross for me. When I look back on my life, I can see so many times that God was trying to get through to me, yet I didn’t listen. I only wish now that I had.

Your walk with Jesus is literally what you make it to be. He hasn’t changed. He has been, is presently and will always be there with you. To know that He helped form me, knows my innermost being better than myself. To have someone know my thoughts before they are spoken or know every hurt, failure, and disappointment. To have someone that has seen me at my worst, most ugly self and yet still love me without judgement. We all have earthly relationships. You and I both know they are hard and take work. And, sometimes they fall apart because of who knows: selfishness, anger, disloyalty, lying, being dishonest, abuse…..the list can go on and on. Whether it’s because of something we did/didn’t do, or someone has done to us it’s hard to let go of and move on. Yet with Jesus, he forgives us and picks us back up and sets us back on a firm foundation again and again.

When your world feels like it’s falling apart. When people that have been an important part of life is no longer there. When you’ve hit rock bottom because of what ever got you there, remember there was Jesus. He’s always been there and will never leave or forsake you. I don’t know how I would’ve gotten through some of things that myself or my family went through if it wasn’t for Him. The longer I walk with Him the more in love and grateful I am to the one who is there to see me through. Because of Him and His faithfulness, I am confident in life that He is with me. It hasn’t mattered where I was or the depth of what I was going through, there was Jesus. To know that someone knows all that is within me and is willing to guide me, grow me and heal me: physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally IF I allow Him too is so comforting.

I’m sure if you took the time to look back over your life, you’d see Him too. If you don’t know that personal connection to Jesus then just reach out, because I guarantee you, He’s waiting. That is something He longs for is you, all of you. It doesn’t matter what life throws your way…..Jesus is there and has always been.

God bless
